A la Mode Duo features guitarist/composer Clayton DeLong with vocalist/percussionist Jesica Poell. Born in California and raised in Kansas City, Clayton began playing guitar at age 16. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from University of Missouri Kansas City, Conservatory of Music where he studied jazz guitar under Kansas City greats such as Rod Fleeman, Danny Embrey and Bobby Watson. Jessica has studied classical voice and performed on stages from Arrowhead Stadium to Carnegie Hall to the Plaza Art Fair and is a Chaz favorite. The A la Mode duo performs jazz from standards to French gypsy, Latin and swing.

Flyzone Duo

This is a dynamic duo of veteran jazz, and r&b musicians. Jaisson Taylor is regarded as one of the top jazz, blues, and R&B drummers/vocalists in the KC Metro area. His experience spans other genres, including African, South American and modern American percussion methods and styles. His rich and smooth vocals has made him sought after for recording and voice overs in KC and has earned him a high reputation as a recording artist. Vocalist/guitarist Ric Barron’s wide range and octave abilities gives him the ability to accurately sing in different genres from country and American folk to jazz, blues, funk and rock. Ric has established himself as a one of the best overall guitarists in the region. He earned first place at the Estes Park International Duet Singing Competition, and in 2012 was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame.

The Mengel Brothers

Chaz draws a loyal flock of regulars Sunday nights to hear a diverse repertoire performed by the Mengel Brothers. Dana and Les Mengel are among the top classical musicians in the Kansas City area. Both studied at the UMKC Conservatory of Music and appear as members of many local Community Orchestras. Dana, violinist, is a noted composer whose works have been performed across the country and are included in their play list. Les, cellist/bassist, has performed with the Kansas City Symphony, taught at William Jewell College and reached semi-finals in the Concours International Chamber Music Competition in Paris. Guests appreciate their fresh stylings on classical compositions as well as riffs on jazz, pop and rock from artists such as the Beatles and Doors.

Michael Pagan Duo

As a jazz pianist Michael Pagán has performed throughout the United States and in Europe with many jazz. As a composer Pagán has written over 150 works, mostly in the jazz idiom. His 2005 big band recording Pag’s Groove garnered wide critical acclaim. In 2010 he released two recordings, Michael Pagán Trio Three for the Ages with bassist Bob Bowman and drummer Ray DeMarchi and 12 Preludes and Fugues for saxophone quartet. A live duo recording with Millie Edwards will be released in April of 2011.

A native of Paraguay, Ruben has been surrounded by music his entire life. He has been fascinated with the piano since age 4 and presented his first piano recital at age 6. He came to the U.S. in 1989 to study English, and while here was awarded a scholarship in piano performance from the University of Kansas. He is a gifted pianist and composer who has performed before diverse audiences and recorded four CDs. He performs pop, show tunes, movie soundtracks and jazz standards at Chaz

Stan Kessler and Kathleen Holeman

This group will make you smile and tap your feet. Stan and Kat play songs from the American jazz songbook that will have you whistling all the way home. Stan Kessler is a jazz stalwart on the KC scene, leading several working bands. Kathleen Holeman is one of the swingin’est singers and pianists around. Together, they make music that is delightful, memorable and entertaining in any setting.

British Invasion

British Invasion reproduces the sounds of the Beatles, Dave Clark Five, Gerry & the Pacemakers, the Rolling Stones and many of the other British bands that flooded the US airwaves starting in 1964. The foursome includes acoustic and electric guitars, bass and keyboards as well as strong lead vocals and harmonies.

Havilah Bruders Duo

Havilah Bruders is a versatile and soulful Kansas City vocalist who performs a variety of genres as though each was her sole focus. Raised in a singing family, this classically trained vocalist claims the golden age of jazz and swing as the soundtrack to her life. Her ability with jazz improvisation and her love affair with jazz, swing and Delta blues makes her one of Chaz’s favorite jazz singers.
