The Plaza's Charming, Old-World Hotel
“Kansas City's Raphael Hotel is a legend for its excellent service, deluxe accommodations and access to this country's first "shopping mall"-- the Plaza. The rooms are large and comfortable--as they should be, since the building was originally an apartment house. The sitting area of my ‘regular’ room was enough separated from the bed area that I would have felt comfortable meeting a client there. 24-hour room service was prompt, as was housekeeping to any concerns. The hotel's restaurant is fantastic ($9-15 for breakfast, $8-15 lunch, $20-38 dinner, the food is quite good and copious (the rack of lamb could have fed a small country).  If you want to experience old Kansas City luxury, the Raphael is for you!”

“We were greeted at the door by a doorman that was neatly dressed and CUTE! He explained the parking and then led us to check-in, after check-in  we were escorted to our 4th floor corner suite that was furnished in luxurious tapestry-like fabric. As my husband felt the bed to see if he was going to get a good nights' rest he exclaimed. ‘Honey, maybe we should go mattress shopping when we get home for something like this.’ The food and piano music in the hotel restaurant was wonderful and we enjoyed every minute we were there.”

“The Raphael is a charming, older hotel that takes you back to yesteryear. The European charm is well matched with the Spanish-style architecture of Country Club Plaza just across the street. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. The hotel staff is courteous and helpful, and the restaurant is fabulous. I found it an excellent choice for a weekend getaway for my wife and I in Kansas City. It has so much more character than typical hotels.”

“My wife and I spent two nights at the Raphael on our honeymoon. The service was awesome, and the excellent suite, the luxurious beds, towels, and bathrobes all contributed to a very romantic couple of nights. We had a wonderful view of the Country Club Plaza from our windows as well - a very classy effect. The hotel restaurant was very satisfactory. We only ate breakfast there, but we were impressed with the service and the food quality. Highly recommended!”

A Dream Hotel
“The Raphael Hotel was like a dream come true. The staff was the most helpful and courteous of any I have even encountered. Rooms were marvelously large and well appointed. The little special touches like the monogrammed towels were a wonder. Bathrobes were luxurious, soft and toasty. We got the Romance Package and were presently surprised by all the details.  The Restaurant is quiet and the chef does a wonderful job. Everything we tried surpassed our expectations. I have wanted a trip like this for years and now that I have experienced it we will continue to be patrons of this marvelous hotel.”
