As a historic, Kansas City landmark, The Raphael Hotel is rooted in tradition. And since 1975, it has won the hearts of many who seek a unique holiday tradition with family and friends - a place where they can revel in the magic of the Country Club Plaza while embarking on meaningful family traditions. This holiday season, three longtime hotel guests shared special memories, holiday stories and family traditions passed down from generation to generation. This is part one of three. Part 1: Staff Like Family Cynthia Schwab, 87, of Joplin, Missouri, has been visiting The Raphael Hotel since 1985 thanks to a friend's recommendation. After her first stay in room 401, she became a loyal guest, returning about 15 times a year for business travel and to visit family in the area -- ALWAYS returning to room 401. Cynthia said her favorite part about The Raphael Hotel is the staff, because they really emphasize the qualities that make a hotel stay comfortable. 'From every experience, and every stay, I am continually impressed by how polite and accommodating the staff is, and how they always remember me,' said Cynthia. In addition to many stories throughout the years, Cynthia has special memories of treating her family to a nice, holiday dinner at Chaz on the Plaza. “I look forward to every meal at Chaz because the food is always delicious,” continues Cynthia, “I really hope my family passes down the tradition.” When asked if The Raphael feels like home, and if the staff treats her as family, she quipped, “Well no…..They are much nicer than my family!” Thanks for sharing your story and making us laugh, Cynthia!
