  • The 87th Annual KCP&L Plaza Lighting Ceremony

    Experience the nation’s oldest Thanksgiving night tradition – the annual lighting of the Country Club Plaza. Thousands gather Thanksgiving night in the streets, in Plaza facing hotel rooms at The Raphael and other Plaza area hotels, condos, apartments and office buildings to watch the annual spectacle of the holiday lights being turned on. The lights add to the Plaza’s festive holiday spirit from Thanksgiving Thursday, November 24, 2016 through Sunday, January 15, 2017.
  • Kansas City Symphony

    The acclaimed Kansas City Symphony presents five distinct concerts in Helzberg Hall at the magnificent Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts: Handel’s Messiah with the Symphony Chorus and Independence Messiah Choir December 1 – 4; TubaChristmas 2016 December 2 & 12; Jim Brickman with the Kansas City Symphony December 9; Christmas Festival December 15-18 and 20; and Screenland at the Symphony Home Alone December 21-22.
  • Christmas in the Park

    Take an enchanting drive through Longview Park to see a winter wonderland lit up with 300,000 lights and filled with 175 animated figures. The show goes on evenings from November 25th through December 31st.
  • The Nutcracker Ballet at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

    Take the family to a completely reimagined performance of The Nutcracker at Kauffman Center. Sit back and enjoy the holiday story of the mouse king and toy soldiers set to the Kansas City Symphony playing Tchaikovsky tunes and beautiful dance routines. Performances are scheduled December 3 – 24.
  • A Christmas Carol at Kansas City Missouri Repertory Theater

    One of Kansas City’s favorite holiday traditions is back for its 36th season. Visit the ghosts of Christmas past in A Christmas Carol, the classic Dickens tale of hope and redemption through the eyes of Ebenezer Scrooge at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre from November 18th through December 24th. Missouri Rep presents a hilarious and dark elfin production of David Sedaris’ “The Santaland Diaries” December 8 – 24.

  • Country Club Plaza

  • Westport

    Westport, Kansas City’s original entertainment district, boasts a rich history as the oldest established community in Kansas City. More than 150 years ago, Westport marked the passage into the Western Frontier and set the foundation for what it is today; a thriving shopping and entertainment district. Westport is a fusion of local eateries, fashionable and quirky boutiques and hot night-spots compounded with remnants of the neighborhood’s historic past. Westport is located less than a mile North of The Raphael.
  • Brookside

    Brookside, planned and built in 1920, was developed by J.C. Nichols, who is more well-known for developing the Country Club Plaza. Brookside is today considered one of Kansas City’s most charming residential communities. Its shopping district is home to more than 70 shops, restaurants and offices, all unique and in keeping with the original neighborhood charm and architecture.
