The Raphael welcomes local dining enthusiasts and visitors alike into a uniquely Kansas City restaurant distinct from every other on the Plaza: Chaz on the Plaza. The ambience is warm and clublike. The decor scheme of natural walnut finishes, polished granite, soft and sophisticated colors are energized by bold splashes of red, and touches of bling throughout. Its dramatic features include an original floor-to-ceiling mural incorporating a photographic montage of Plaza landmarks and custom-designed translucent acrylic panels in varying shapes, embedded with digital graphic images.

Jason Wiggin joins Chaz as executive chef

Chef Wiggin brings a passion for food, excellent culinary skills and experience in noteworthy Kansas City kitchens to Chaz. His cooking style achieves delectable balance between old world and new age techniques. He loves French food and fundamentals exemplified by classic chefs from Escoffier to Julia Childs. He equally loves midwestern regional and modern American cuisine and cooking techniques he learned from his mother. Wiggin's cooking is further influenced by diverse internationally celebrated chefs he admires, including Thomas Keller and Anthony Bourdain. He dabbles in molecular gastronomy and and delves deeply into sourcing fresh, quality ingredients.

Chaz Creative Cuisine. Chaz's charming, music-enhanced atmosphere sets the stage for an enjoyable experience with modern American regional cuisine. Chaz's innovative menus change seasonally and feature a playful fusion of styles and cuisines, artfully presented and complemented by a well-edited wine selection.

Chaz Lounge. Chaz offers one of the most comfortable and cozy venues in Kansas City to enjoy a classic cocktail or sample a boutique regional wine. It is also where the diverse KC sound is being defined––music that is real, being created and performed Tuesday - Sunday evenings by local artists. Genres include classical, jazz, blues and rock music - some performed acoustically.  Chaz offers a recently revamped Progressive Happy Hour from 4-7 pm Mondays - Thursdays.
